A bit about Yo Soy Underground supper :
We host unique dining experiences at museums, art galleries, cafés, private homes, and other non-traditional settings with the goal of redefining the way we dine and connect with food. Yo Soy's "Mexican Inspired" menu is theme-based and carefully assembled drawing from our travels, holidays, and other unique ideas not normally explored by restaurants.
The term "Underground Supper" refers to the fact that the culinary experiences created by Yo Soy are constantly on the move, and have a high elusive factor. The "Pop-Up Suppers" are more defined by the meal being held at numerous locations around the city of Chicago. Yo Soy "Pop Up's" are in traditional, or non-traditional restaurant locations and create experiences that are sometimes "one-time" only events or an ongoing once a month visiting chef experience. The setting of the meals consists of communal tables of food lovers, artists, adventurous diners, etc,. Diners are notified via social media or word of mouth about the supper, and are typically given disclosure of the location eight hours before the event is to take place. Seats to the events are available only through our website and limited in availability.
Yo Soy Underground Supper is a labor of love that has allowed foodies, friends and strangers to gather over the past five years, allowing us the opportunity to experiment with different recipes and menu items that we hope to one day showcase in our very own restaurant. We cannot wait to meet and feed you!

Mexicali

Recently we have been doing more and more historical research, coming across Mexicali, which is not just the capital of the Baja California State in Baja mexico, but the confluence of our two favorite cultures.  The exchange of goods dates to the Manila-Acapulco galleons, began in 1565, bringing spice, porcelain and ivory in exchange for Mexican silver. This came into Acapulco, through Mexico City and eventually onto Spain. But left behind were also human cargo, while this was the beginning of a lucrative and ongoing trade Read more...

Underground dining

Currently we are planing our next dinner event and were looking for people to come enjoy this with us! This will hopefully become a weekly event that we are trying to get started. Were looking for 10 people for a four course dinner, with wine pairings for a $50 'donation' per person. You can look below for an idea of what the last party was like, but there tons of fun with great conversation and food guaranteed! Summer is in full swing and the market has been packed with beautiful produce all at its peak so now is the perfect time for a summer fête. Everyone is welcome but the seats have been going fast so let us know soon!

Yo Soy! Dinner party, sunday 7.19.09

afterglow of a beautiful night

Sunday we held another great dinner party with fourteen friends, some new some old but we were all having a great time by the end of the night! We had been wanting to get a group of people together for what we want to become an underground dinning  event. Something along the lines of getting a group of people together whom may not necessarily know  each other, or even work in the same fields, but who can come together over a shared passion and enjoyment of food and wine. This is a popular sensation Read more....

Steak

This was actually from a week ago it took a little longer than we wanted to post, though here it is!
