A bit about Yo Soy Underground supper :
We host unique dining experiences at museums, art galleries, cafés, private homes, and other non-traditional settings with the goal of redefining the way we dine and connect with food. Yo Soy's "Mexican Inspired" menu is theme-based and carefully assembled drawing from our travels, holidays, and other unique ideas not normally explored by restaurants.
The term "Underground Supper" refers to the fact that the culinary experiences created by Yo Soy are constantly on the move, and have a high elusive factor. The "Pop-Up Suppers" are more defined by the meal being held at numerous locations around the city of Chicago. Yo Soy "Pop Up's" are in traditional, or non-traditional restaurant locations and create experiences that are sometimes "one-time" only events or an ongoing once a month visiting chef experience. The setting of the meals consists of communal tables of food lovers, artists, adventurous diners, etc,. Diners are notified via social media or word of mouth about the supper, and are typically given disclosure of the location eight hours before the event is to take place. Seats to the events are available only through our website and limited in availability.
Yo Soy Underground Supper is a labor of love that has allowed foodies, friends and strangers to gather over the past five years, allowing us the opportunity to experiment with different recipes and menu items that we hope to one day showcase in our very own restaurant. We cannot wait to meet and feed you!

Sunday, August 12, 2012 at 5:37PM we are fresh back from our san francisco trip and could not be filled with more fun ideas for dishes to share with you all! this supper is going to be influenced highly from the mission area and all of it’s wonderful flavors and attractions, napa and it’s luxurious roots, and of course the lively chinatown! grab your seats and get ready to visit the “golden city”via your palate!

Twisted Texan dinner rocks Kickstand! & now TomatoFest! 8.5.12
Monday, July 30, 2012 at 9:50PM We are thrilled to report that the Twisted Texan dinner was a huge success! On a warm, but pleasant, day with a great crowd and an amazing location we toasted all things Texan last night. A very gracious thank you to Kickstand Espresso Bar whose staff and space made for a memorable evening. Steven Leonard serenaded the crowd with his amazing voice and we were all more than happy to sing along to his unique and inspiring songs. We got to dip deep into our roots and childhoods for this one, and in doing so we evoked some of our fondest memories and flavors. As always, we twisted it up with Mexican and Chinese ingredients, and the results were delicious. A big thank you to our regulars and as always it was a great time welcoming in strangers and seeing new found friendships by the end of the evening!

1). Pato Nachos : peking style roast duck + blue corn + pickled peach + aged goats gruyere + orange zest
2). in a pickle : chinese cucumber + sauvignon blanc + dill + garlic
3). chino frito pie : 5 spice chili + chihuahua cheese + serrano + frito's
4). texas barbie : mesquite chipotle bbq short ribs + chinese mustard mashed potato + fried okra
5). flantastic : sweet tea-almond flan + peach ginger jam + grapefruit + candied sesame
Another amazing night on our heels that we are gearing up for! Our next event, this Sunday August. 5th, 2012 we will be working with our friends at Clandestino and subrosa for a garden party in Pilsen. This is a great event to feed your body and soul, all proceeds go to Mindful Medicine Worldwide. Join us for a night of fun, food and live music a silent auction and more! We were excited that the weather gods graced chicago with beautiful day yesterday. It was a day that was brim full of great, light, summer fare and amazing company. One of the performers for the evening was Nancy Duran and she belted out some great Mexican tunes! The second performer was Diva Kai who plays folkish good times music! It was a magical experience as we all lingered under the Chicago clear summer sky with great new friends and wine flowing freely hearing great talent! It was one of those nights where you have to stop and think about how great it is to live in such a unique and fantastic city that has so much to offer! It definitely put a smile on my face and believe the feeling was mutual among the dining group!
now for the lowdown on the menu:
menu:
1). deconstructed ceviche : tofu + cucumber + heart of palm + bamboo shoots + avocado
2). cantaloupe and chinese basil soup: mexican sesame seeds + white wine + crisp wonton
3). reconstructed chile relleno: pork + marjoram + ancho chile + almonds + 5 spiced tomatoes
4). pollo pibil: achiote + cumin + mexican oregano + ginger + snow peas
5). mexican vanilla poundcake: plums + apricots + tequila
We definitely kept summer cool with this menu and it's execution! we are looking forward to keeping cool, light, fresh menu items throughout summer. Our next supper is set to go for Sunday July 29th!

Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at 12:00AM summer is here and we are heating things up here at yo soy! the summer season is so full of life and fun that we could not resist but to theme it for this supper! here in chicago, it's when most of us get out to start socializing (a.k.a. defrosting) and enjoying some great grilled fare! we are presenting a 5 course meal as well as a singer / songwriter for entertainment! how great is that?! let's get summer going and kick it off with some great food, and amazing company! we look forward to seeing and feeding you soon!
